Ammanuel

Christ during His passion, as He is being mocked and tortured by the Roman soldiers. Stripped of His garments with a crown of thorns and a reed forced onto Him with His hands bound, mocking His kingship. In contrast these things parallel the signs of marriage in Orthodoxy, the crown of marriage, His hands bound representing unity, and the reed representing humility, standing before us, our Bridegroom.
